Guiding Ohio Online is an AmeriCorps program that places members in rural Ohio libraries to deliver digital literacy training through computer classes, one-on-one computer assistance, outreach, and volunteer recruitment. Our vision is for every Ohioan to be able to fully participate in online government, search and apply for jobs online, understand the risks and benefits of internet finance, connect with family online, and protect personal information in the digital age.
I'm so impressed by our AmeriCorps members! They are such as funny smart group of hardworking and selfless individuals. I can't believe all they're accomplished in just the first month of our program. This October—our very first month when we’re still settling in—our program assisted 324 patrons in one-on-one assistance and 92 in classes!
Great Stories are written by Guiding Ohio Online AmeriCorps members about their service.
M. is a regular at my local library. She has enrolled in every class I've taught and makes an appointment to see me at least once each week. Recently, M. decided she wanted to give her iPad to her great-grand daughters. She scheduled an appointment to bring the girls (ages 4 and 5) into the library for me to help download some age appropriate game apps onto the iPad.
